First fully digital birth notification: Kiel, NEXUS and Vertama achieve end-to-end M2M

In a joint project with Städtisches Krankenhaus Kiel and KIS provider NEXUS, Vertama has delivered the first fully digital, paper-free birth notification in Germany — transmitted machine-to-machine from the hospital information system directly to the civil registry office.

The implementation closes a process that ran on paper for over 150 years. Vertama’s MaaS layer bridges NEXUS’s clinical system and Autista, the software used by German civil registry offices, with no manual re-entry at either end.
